November will be won or lost in the suburbs. Let's get READY by hashing out issues that we want on the agenda.
Please attend & forward!
Suburban Progressive Activist Convention
When: Saturday July 17 at 10am- noon
Where: Countryside Unitarian Church
1025 N Smith St.
Palatine, IL 60067-2603
MAP
Over the last two years, the families of Illinois have worked hard to
improve the quality of life for our families.
We improved access to health care for 12.9 million Illinoisans,
including 466,000 people in the 10th Congressional District.
We are close to winning Wall Street reform with strong consumer
protections.
So, what do we do now?
On July 17th from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, leaders throughout Northern Illinois
will come together to determine how we keep moving forward on the
progressive agenda:
- Health Care: Determine what to do to control health care costs and
improve quality. What other improvements should we fight for locally or at
the state level?
- Jobs and the safety net: How do we make sure that unemployment and
COBRA are extended for those in need? How do we increase job creation in
Illinois?
- Fair Elections: How do we improve and pass current legislation designed
to provide public funding for elections?
- Corporate dominance: What role can we play in increasing the role of
the citizenry in democracy? How do we hold corporations like BP and AIG
responsible?
- Immigration: How do we pass real reform?
At this convention, we will break out into discussions on these issues,
determine other critical issues, and train folks on the tools they can use
over the next few months to impact Congress.
You are needed! Bring your opinions, your passion & friends.
