Dear Daniel,

Occupy Spring is starting on Saturday. Chicago Mayor Emanuel and the
Chicago police must respect our first amendment rights to peaceful assembly
if Chicago is to be a world class democracy. However, *the police
department is arming for control and has given no information about plans
to respect the democratic rights of protesters.*

We are asking Mayor Emanuel to respect the rights of protesters to the
freedom of peaceful assembly. We request that the *guidelines recommended
by UN Human Rights Special Rapporteur, Mr. Maina Kiai, be followed in
Chicago.*
