Re: [PDI] Rahm's brother on Health Care reform

The problem is clout, IMO. When the game is over I think the score will be Zeek 100, Don 0.  In fact, I think the game is over and they just haven't told us the score. do the lobbyists ever lose?

"I have lost faith, godammit! I put my faith in the People and that was a mistake! This is a shit people! They get stolen blind by their politicians and they lick their boots. They send their kids off to die for somebody's business deal and they celebrate it like they're doing something heroic! This great and glorious people! Lazy sacks of junk food and jingo!"

I think Don McCanne gives a good refutation of Ezekiel Emanuel here:

"Medicare is our most popular, most efficient, and most equitable health
care financing program, yet it is being dismissed as a model for all of us
because of the idea that it somehow represents an ideological extreme. In health
care, political compromise based on ideology is not only bankrupting
individuals, it is killing them."

Polls show that most Americans now support single-payer. But we won't get
it without continued work asserting our political power and political will. Time
to step up.
