This Isn't Change We Can Believe In

Dear Geraldine Perry,

*We're very close. In the past six days we've raised over $61,000, and
we now need just $9,000 to pass our critical goal before midnight's
quarterly fundraising deadline. Can you chip in once more - $10, $25,
$100 dollars - to help our movement get the resources it needs to stay
in Congress? *
*
Click here to donate and help us hit this critical fundraising goal.

It's painfully clear to me that America continues to slide in the wrong
direction. Watch this video and look at the facts:

We've spent over $3 trillion on the war in Iraq and over $500 billion
and counting in Afghanistan. In Libya, we'll soon hit $1 billion in
spending - on a war that raises lots of questions but has not received
any debate or authorization from Congress. The Pentagon now takes over
half of the discretionary spending of our budget. And the United States
is the largest exporter of arms in the world. *That's not change we can
believe in*.

At a time when we have close to 15 million people out of work and we're
cutting critical programs to the poor and unemployed, we're wasting
money becoming a military juggernaut around the world.

But - somehow - the consensus in Washington is to just let this military
industrial complex and the policies of fear and preemptive war continue.
We simply should not accept, blindly, that war is always necessary and
that our nation and our world must persist in a state of violence.

Thank you for supporting me and our movement. We cannot let some
downstate politicians succeed in eliminating our voice in Congress, and
let the status quo of ever increasing military intervention go
unchecked. *We must continue to challenge the conventional wisdom, think
differently, and strive for a more prosperous and peaceful America*.

*Please donate before midnight and let's keep speaking out!*
<http://kucinich.us/contribute>

With appreciation and respect,

Dennis
Dennis Kucinich

Re: [PDI] FW: [Progressive Illinois Voters] The Living Wage Jobs for All Illinois Coalition...

*** SENT THROUGH PDI MAILING LIST ***
All,

Let's not forget the NEED ACT, here is the first paragraph, laying out
the overall objective (and benefits);http://www.monetary.org/hr6550bill.pdf

To create a full employment economy as a matter of national economic
defense; to provide for public
investment in capital infrastructure; to provide for reducing the cost
of public investment; to retire
public debt; to stabilize the Social Security retirement system; to
restore the authority of Congress to
create and regulate money, modernize and provide stability for the
monetary system of the United
States, retire public debt and reduce the cost of public investment, and
for other public purposes.

This is NOT pie in the sky, it can be reality!!! All you have to do is
understand money creation, but barring that just learn the overall
objective of the NEED Act. PLEASE help promote this CRUCIAL ACT.

It is key to EVERYTHING ELSE, including how we got rigged elections and
computerized voting, etc, etc, etc.

sincerely

The Living Wage Jobs for All Illinois Coalition has two upcoming events. Please make a note in your calendar for each event. Attached is a flyer for the meeting on April 3rd.

The Living Wage Jobs for All Illinois Coalition will hold a Rally for Jobs at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 1st in front of the offices of the Illinois Department of Employment Security in downtown Elgin at 30 DuPage Court.

On that day, the Bureau of Labor Statistics will release its monthly report on unemployment numbers. We will comment on those numbers.

We will also have one or more unemployed persons who will speak about the pain caused by unemployment.

Call 847-742-6602 for comments or questions.

Mary Shesgreen
for Living Wage Jobs for All Illinois Coalition.

The Living Wage Jobs for All Illinois Coalition will hold a meeting on Sunday, April 3rd at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Geneva, 102 South Second Street at 2:00 PM. The Speakers will include Fran Tobin of Jobs with Justice and John Gaudette of Citizen Action. The purpose of the meeting is for the coalition to choose whether to affiliate with either of these organizations or whether to remain independent.

The coalition is approaching the first anniversary of its initial meeting, so it is still very new. The purpose of the coalition is to build an alliance between organized labor, peace & justice groups, clergy, and community leaders. Recent attacks on organized labor throughout the country demonstrate the urgency of such an alliance.

Attached is a flyer about the meeting.

The meeting is free and open to the public.

Thanks for twittering about voting! That is a big step in the right
direction.

We need to minimally have an in precinct 10% audit of all votes cast on
election night. Unfortunately, we have made early voting just so
"convenient" for everyone. This was a response to what happened in OH in
the 2004 election, when people had to wait in lines for hours to vote. Of
course all of this was by design by not putting enough machines at polling
places, especially in minority and college polls.

It will be hard to do away with early voting since "they" have made this now
a "personal" issue--voting on your time, which if denied now becomes an
infringement on one's ability to vote. Early voting is awful, for so many
reasons, but I do not have to tell you the obvious, and something that you
already know.

The best thing to do--tell people that electronic voting is terrible. Give
them the links of the hacks from Hacking Democracy where they do just that.
The more that people know about AND they call their IL legislators, Rep &
Sen. about it the better, since most of the legislators in Illinois do not
know about the evils of electronic voting. THEN we also tell them to
support our legislation, HB1246, and SB1298.

WE FORGET THAT USING OUR INDIVIDUAL TALENTS FOR COLLECTIVE GOAL IS
INSPIRING, AWESOME.

WE CAN DO THIS!

ALL REFORM DEPENDS ON THE VOTE.

Thanks for all of your support....continue to get the word out there.

Re: [PDI] Fwd: MARCH 25, 7-9 PM ROGER JOHNSTON DEMONSTRATES HOW THE VOTE CAN BE HACKED

*** SENT THROUGH PDI MAILING LIST ***

[PDI] Sparks And Bits...

*** SENT THROUGH PDI MAILING LIST ***
Sparks And Bits...

Sparks and bits,
Sparks and bits,
Everybody loves their sparks and bits!

Sparks will fly and bits will flow,
Off through the Ethernets they will go,
Where they stop no one knows,
Well,
Maybe.

Gremlins eat crackers,
Funny friends of Black-hat Hackers,
Code snakes and worms,
Trojan server farms,
Growing incredible Zombie swarms.

Sparks and bits,
Sparks and bits,
Everyone loves their sparks and bits!

Shiny phones and laptop homes,
E-readers and tablet tomes,
We eat it all,
From a big screen on the wall,
Jello mind pudding,
With psyops topping,
Where it leads us is there any stopping?

Sparks and bits,
Sparks and bits,
Everyone loves their sparks and bits!

I threw on my coat,
Went off to vote,
Maybe send the Future a sweet love note,
But the transmission was garbled,
By the touch-screen I marveled,
An ocean of Blue and Red,
It was all in my head,
Some wizard of Wall Street,
Votes in my stead,
Electronic proxy,
Sells water full of mercury,
Radium and lead.

Sparks and bits,
Sparks and bits,
Come swallow the working class,
Sparks and bits.

Totally, but what?

BTW, I'm starting to use #evotnsux hashtag in all Twitter posts on the subject.

Today I mentioned that if we insist on voting by computer, eventually Anonymous would vote for us by hack.

Computer voting is stupid.

I think you're talking about Stan Jagla. Stan ran for Congress in
IL-6, not the same district in which Harper ran.

After losing rather badly in the primary in that election, Stan got
slated as the Democratic candidate for DuPage Clerk of the Circuit
Court. He did respectably well in that race, but still lost.

In the following election, he declared himself a candidate for US
Senate, at first running as a Democrat, then an independent, and then
as the candidate of the "Illinois Labor Party" which as far as I can
tell consisted solely of Stan himself. I don't think anybody really
saw him as being capable enough to make a serious run for the Senate.
He ended up unable to even file for the ballot, and hasn't been heard
from since.

Re: [PDI] Fwd: MARCH 25, 7-9 PM ROGER JOHNSTON DEMONSTRATES HOW THE VOTE CAN BE HACKED

*** SENT THROUGH PDI MAILING LIST ***
If the politicians aren't listening to either polls or constituents, doesn't it seem obvious that they have no reason to fear either one?

Computerized voting is the new Wizard putting the illusions in Oz.

Computers exist for one reason: to manipulate information.

Since when has every single election been within 2-3% in favor of corporatists from Dog Catcher to President?

Since we started voting on freaking computers.

It's patently obvious that we're already in the matrix, only not the fictional version.

*CAN THE VOTE BE HACKED IN DUPAGE COUNTY..WIRELESSLY AND REMOTELY?*

If politicians have failed to listen to their constituents, if they
instead upend the Constitution, promoting the agenda of their corporate
donors, rather than the welfare of Americans, voters have the right to
take corrective actions by voting those politicians out of office.

But what if those corrective actions, our vote, can be hacked or
compromised?
What then? How do we combat the erosion of our democracy?

First, we educate others about the problem.
Then we take action...and we don't give up the fight.

"Yes, it's remarkable how many high-tech security products, really don't
have much security," Roger Johnston said.

He's found that most voting machines have almost _no security to reveal
tampering. _Thus, he said, it's a fairly simple matter to tinker with
the electronics while machines are in storage or being transported by
the truckload.

He has even demonstrated how he can turn cheating mechanisms in voting
machines /_on and off by remote control._/

"It's much easier to steal the election, right at the electronic voting
machine," said Johnston. "In many cases, we see security devices or
electronic voting machines where we really have to wonder, 'Did anybody
spend 60 seconds figuring out the security issues?"

Dear Daniel,
It's time for corporate tax cheats like Bank of America and Verizon to pay up -- and you can help make them do just that.
Join the US Uncut National Day of Action this Saturday.

Sign up with US Uncut, and learn more about the protests and direct actions we have planned in your community -- or, if there isn't one, start your own.
If you agree that Bank of America should pay back our country before we start firing teachers and firefighters, then join the movement TODAY.
Another economy is possible.
Sincerely,

ok, my 2 cents here:

Wasn't Scott more or less a fill-in for the REAL DEAL? What happened to
the fellow before Scott, i.e. the REAL DEAL. You know the fellow with a
Polish accent or something, that was right on the money (so to speak) on
NAFTA, etc, etc?

Scott's burnt out it seems. We're in the middle of re-districting and I
don't know what the boundaries will be.

However, we need to be scouting NOW!

What skills need to be present to WIN?
I'd say:
1) Knowledge of issues and arguments
2) a level of charisma/presence
3) understanding of the system
4) vision of what's possible/desirable

You say?
