The Living Wage Jobs for All Illinois Coalition has two upcoming events. Please make a note in your calendar for each event. Attached is a flyer for the meeting on April 3rd.

The Living Wage Jobs for All Illinois Coalition will hold a Rally for Jobs at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 1st in front of the offices of the Illinois Department of Employment Security in downtown Elgin at 30 DuPage Court.

On that day, the Bureau of Labor Statistics will release its monthly report on unemployment numbers. We will comment on those numbers.

We will also have one or more unemployed persons who will speak about the pain caused by unemployment.

The Living Wage Jobs for All Illinois Coalition will hold a meeting on Sunday, April 3rd at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Geneva, 102 South Second Street at 2:00 PM. The Speakers will include Fran Tobin of Jobs with Justice and John Gaudette of Citizen Action. The purpose of the meeting is for the coalition to choose whether to affiliate with either of these organizations or whether to remain independent.

The coalition is approaching the first anniversary of its initial meeting, so it is still very new. The purpose of the coalition is to build an alliance between organized labor, peace & justice groups, clergy, and community leaders. Recent attacks on organized labor throughout the country demonstrate the urgency of such an alliance.

Attached is a flyer about the meeting.

The meeting is free and open to the public.
