Parking in the Metra lot: from experience, you do NOT have to pay to park on weekends although there is nothing official saying this. I have never paid and have never gotten a ticket. However, I always park in a numbered area, so if an officer wanted to know whether I paid or not, they would have to open the fare box, etc. They don't do this on weekends.  If you park in an unnumbered space, it's easy to tell immediately if you have a parking pass or not, and easier to get a ticket.
In short, IN THE METRA LOT, PARK IN A NUMBERED SPACE, AND YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY $1.50 IN THE FARE BOX.

If you haven't been to the Villa Park Metra station lately, things have changed. On the south side, instead of crossing in the center, you now have to walk up to Ardmore Ave or the opposite end of the parking lot to cross over. On weekends I find it easier to park on the north side and sit in the car until the train comes (which, also by experience, is frequently late on weekends).

Scroll down for information on the train schedule.  The 11:08 train from Villa Park is the best! Train schedule is attached for times from Elmhurst and Lombard !

Many thanks to Steve Seddon for forwarding this!

On Saturday, After 9 am Metra trains run every two hours, so if you miss the 11:08 AM in Villa Park, for example, there's not another til 1:08 pm.

In April 1968, Martin Luther King was killed in Memphis while supporting striking sanitation workers fighting for respect, dignity and a pathway to the middle class. In April 2011, the same corporate and political power brokers tried to make villains out of our school teachers in Wisconsin .

Now, the assault on the middle class is spreading across the country.  In Illinois , legislation has been drafted to sharply curtail the collective bargaining rights of teachers.

We Stand With Wisconsin .
Memphis 1968 / Madison 2011

SATURDAY, APRIL 9, 2011
12:00 (Noon) March from Thompson Center
( 100 W. Randolph St , Chicago , Illinois 60601 )

1:00 Rally at Daley Plaza
( 50 W. Washington St , Chicago , Illinois 60602 )

On April 9th, thousands of Illinoisans will stand together with teachers, firefighters, and public employees to fight for the same freedoms for which Dr. King gave his life.  Speakers include:
Bill Lucy, retired union leader at the center of the 1968 Memphis struggle.
Wisconsin Senator and teacher at the center of the 2011 Madison struggle.
Mahlon Mitchell, president of the Wisconsin Fire Fighters.

Please make plans to join us on April 9th. We must continue the fight for that dream.

Sincerely,
