Dear Democratic Leaders and Government Watchdogs -

Please spread the word about the free training provided by the BGA.  I spoke to Mary Frances who sent the email and she said they will not be doing a training in DuPage this year due to scheduling and budget constraints - this will be the closest they come to DuPage.

Thanks, Hilary

Join the BGA in Joliet for free Citizen Watchdog Training on Feb. 23 & March 2 (RSVP is required):
bettergov.org/watchdog/training.aspx

About the Program:
The BGA's volunteer Citizen Watchdog Training is a free program that empowers citizens to keep an eye on their government and report about what's going on in their local communities. You'll learn how to examine government and make sure it's operating in a way that's honest, transparent and efficient.

Veteran journalists, investigators and legal professionals will lead sessions on:

-- Understanding Government
-- The Open Meetings Act
-- The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)

You'll also hear from local watchdogs making a difference in their communities. This month, national award-winning watchdog, Brian Costin, tells his story of exposing waste and creating more transparency in Schaumburg. He'll also share details of a Local Transparency Project and a 10-Point Transparency Checklist.
Join us in Joliet: bettergov.org/watchdog/training.aspx
See you there!
